The largest seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, brought its Cameroon round to a successful close during Seedstars Douala. The event took place Friday, 11th October at Activespaces, and 10 selected startups were invited to present their companies in front of the local jury panel.
The local winner, Digital Renter, a house search, advert & management made easy with digital renter. Easily upload, search and have instant notifications on new postings. was named “Best Startup in Cameroon” for its innovative sustainable solution.
"Running Digital Renter for over 2 years now and interacting with multiple stakeholders has given us deep market/field insight to validate the model; a totally inclusive, social and multi-agent system which works for the real estate market in Africa”, explains Fongoh M. Tayong, Founder & CEO at Digital Renter.
Besides representing Cameroon at the Seedstars Africa Summit, the winner will win an all-inclusive trip to the Seedstars Africa Summit and the chance to win a spot at the Seedstars Global Summit in Switzerland where the winner will take home a 500K USD investment prize In addition, the winner will receive 3 months access to the investment readiness program.
The startups pitched in front of a jury that consists of Rebecca Enonchong, Founder, Appstech; Anthony Same, CEO & Founder, ST Digital; Willy Delort HEUBO, Deputy General Manager, Financial Capital and Serge Ntamack, Director of Public Policy, Microsoft
The event attracted interest from over 50 startups who applied.
Clinic Plant, with its web/mobile application for diagnosing crop/animal diseases from an image came second and VehSeh Inc, with its software to monitor and Control your Business from Anywhere; with an internet independent point of sale., grabbed the last spot in the top 3. The other startups invited to pitch were Agrix Tech, ASTA(Advanced and Suitable Technologies for Africa), INFIUSS, Ishangoo, Kiffcodes, Lyon Technologies, SCOLARYX and Colorful.
Continuing on its world tour of fast-growing startup scenes in emerging markets, Seedstars World’s next stop is Port - Louis at Turbine, to select the best startup in Mauritius.
