Online Shopping in Cameroon:The EBay and Amazon experience is Gone

   

It’s been a painful experience shopping online in Cameroon in the past years. Whenever you search a product, you will be directed to websites like Ebay and Amazon. When you select a product and proceed to payout, you will get messages like ‘’ This products might not be delivered to your area’’ This experience can be liken to a  dog asked to eat meat sealed in a transparent bottle. Once more a painful experience to the ‘’Camer’’ online community.

While others give up, some people use VPNs and IPs to shop the products. After paying for the product, to get it delivered in Cameroon consist another problem. You have to buy an address where the product will be delivered so that it can be shipped to you in Cameroon. Others will have to use the address of their friends or relatives. The relatives will then ship it to their address in Cameroon .

 In some cases it might get missing upon transmission if you use regular shipping. This had let to over expenditure on a product you can easily get in a shop around the country.

Sometimes when we stumble on a website that has products or services we need, we will need to call USA, Canada, UK  for help. The reason is because we might not have the tool necessary to do online payment. 

Today the story has change, a good number of Cameroon shops got websites and many Online shops are evolving. You don’t need IPs to do shopping online in Cameroon. Online retailers  ventures like: Jumia.cm, Kamyu.cm, lamudi.cm, lazoto.com.cm and more offer you online services with cash on delivery services or payment by using the local e-payment method known as mobile money. Am not sure of any venture that accepts payments by credit cards in Cameroon. Note that PayPal does not allow merchant accounts in Cameroon as of now.

What of the services we need abroad that are not available in Cameroon?

Again, the story today is different. Credit cards like the Biacards,  Africards are available in Cameroon that allows you to shop online .                                                                                                                              It is no news that PayPal (Pay only) is available in Cameroon. Note that you also need a credit card to activate your pay pal account. The two cards above are the best so far the best to use in Cameroon.  The PayPal service allows you to pay online securely without exposing your credit card details.  There are several other payment methods like the STP, Perfect money,   Bit coins, etc which allows payments  from Cameroon .

To conclude this post, i will like to say put up a smiling face because, it is a matter of choice today on where to shop , which products to buy,  which credit card to use and which payment method is best. We have Cameroons mobile money payment  growing fast.The eBay and Amazon experience is over in Cameroon. Get online and do your shopping at ease and with confidence.
