MTN Cameroon and Orange Cameroon Determined To keep NEXTTEL on the Third Position in The Cameroon mobile Market

MTN Cameroon now offers a tariff plan known as   ‘’MTN FREEDOM’’ . This tariff plan allows you to make calls at 30FCFA per minute.  This  is the cheapest call rate in Cameroon .  Recall, that the cheapest call rate offered by MTN Cameroon was 45FCFA per minute. This is the reason why  MTN Cameroon was awarded for  the best national call rates in Francophone Africa.  The company which has as main aim, ‘’ innovation and accessibility’’   had also put in place special promotions that allows clients to have unlimited SMS, internet and calls. What about the other networks?

Orange Cameroon, the second largest mobile operator and internet service provider, set the pace for calls at 30FCFA per minute in March,2014. The telecom operator on its path launched four tariff packages with call rates at 30FCFA per minute. These tariff plans are ‘’Plenty Classic’’, ‘’Orange Relax’’,’’ Orange Smart’’ and ‘’Orange Fun’’.  This was seen as a strategy to gain more subscribers into the Orange network.

 

Why calls at 30FCFA per minute?

The entry of the Viettel Company (Nexttel) into the telecommunication has made the mobile operators to take precautions to retain their subscribers. Given that the company is a 3G network it stands the chance of winning the markets based on the fact that they provide good network coverage.  Many has seen the recent drop in call rates to 30fcfa/per minute as strategy to keep Nexttel as the third into the market as well as the third in Cameroons telecom market.
